Li Keqiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council, issued important instructions on the competition. The instructions noted that college students are a vital force in implementing the innovation-driven development strategy and promoting mass entrepreneurship and innovation. They should study diligently and acquire more knowledge, while also engaging in innovation and entrepreneurship to improve practical abilities. The China 'Internet+' College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition closely aligns with national development strategies, serves as an important platform for promoting all-round student development, and acts as a key link in integrating industry, academia, research, and application. Education authorities and educators should earnestly implement national decisions and arrangements, actively explore teaching reform, integrate innovation and entrepreneurship education into talent development, effectively strengthen students' entrepreneurial awareness, innovative spirit, and creative ability, cultivate a favorable environment for mass entrepreneurship and innovation, and provide sustained talent and intellectual support for building an innovative country.
Liu Yandong, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, met on October 20 with award-winning students, supervisors, and expert judges representing the first China 'Internet+' College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. She attended a symposium on deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in colleges and universities and delivered remarks. She emphasized the need to fully implement the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, earnestly follow the spirit of Premier Li Keqiang's important instructions, strengthen the sense of responsibility and urgency for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in higher education, comprehensively improve the quality of talent development, and provide strong talent support for promoting mass entrepreneurship and innovation and building an innovative country.
Liu Yandong emphasized that people are the most important factor in innovation and that innovation-driven development is driven by talent. Accelerating implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy urgently requires deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in colleges and universities. Further efforts should promote reform and development in higher education, firmly establish scientific educational concepts, fulfill the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and nurturing talent, optimize disciplinary structures, improve education quality, promote students' all-round development through innovation and entrepreneurship, and better meet and serve economic and social development and national strategic needs. Innovation and entrepreneurship education should be integrated into the talent development system, with reforms in teaching content and methods, improved curricula, and strengthened practice. Greater efforts should be made to promote collaborative education among universities, government, society, and industry, carry out substantive and high-level international exchanges and cooperation, attract quality educational resources, and facilitate the transformation of scientific research achievements.
